Sweetness and Lightning 06
Amaama to Inazuma episode 06
SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:
Kotori’s twin tail friend KOJIKA Shinobu comes by the restaurant with vegitables from her parent’s shop and discovers Kotori with Kouhei and Tsumugi. Shinobu is unhappy that Kotori hasn’t told her about her cooking sessions with Kouhei-sensei, but she decides to help. When Shinobu explains that this will be like a party, Tsumugi gets excited. She makes an invitation for Yagi, which she delivers with her sitter, then at home, makes more for her friends. When Kouhei gets home, he has to disappoint Tsumugi on inviting people to Kotori’s place without asking her first. However, he tells Tsumugi that she can have a party at their apartment and invite her friends.
At school, Kotori and Kouhei agree to make gyoza. The day of the “gyoza party”arrives so Kouhei, Tsumugi, and Shinobu arrive at Kotori’s restaurant. Yagi shows up with Tsumugi’s old invitation, but Shinobu won’t let him leave. As such, with the ingredients he and Shinobu have brought, they start showing their skills at cooking. They teach Kotori and Kouhei how to properly make gyoza. Tsumugi tags hers with dough ribbons. Shinobu sees how deep Kotori’s feelings for Kouhei are, so she has a chat with her friend. Shinobu then pushes Yagi aside to not interfere. After Kouhei and Kotori make the fried gyoza, the group makes other kinds of gyoza and eats.
Thoughts/Review:
Another excursion into delightfulness that is Sweetness and Lightning 06.
We finally got to learn Shinobu’s name this episode. I like how she came to learn the truth about Kotori meeting with Kouhei and Tsumugi. I also like how how she reacted to her best friend not telling her about these (innocent) clandestine meetings.
That said, Shinobu handled things really well. Initially, she may have invited herself into Kotori’s special time, but she eventually realizes what was going on.
I laughed when she pushed Yagi aside to allow Kotori to have time with Kouhei. His remark about being relegated to an undesirable role caught my eye. I suspect that he now realizes that there is a romantic thing between Kotori and Kouhei. Further, Kotori works well with Tsumugi. Since Yagi seems to be single, then Yagi seems to be remarking on how his friend has yet again found someone.
The anime is being very careful about the whole romance angle though. It is hinting at it for the most part. Kotori’s apparent jealousy over Shinobu’s visit without coming right out and saying it is as close as the anime comes. I’m curious to see how the manga treats this.
(Speaking of which, I just got the first volume today. I’ve only read the first two chapters to date from Crunchyroll, so I’m looking forward to reading more.)
Tsumugi is her normal cute and adorable self. I loved her reaction to the thought of having a party. Then when that became two parties, well…
How fortunate for Kouhei that his daughter has two, good, older girls as role models. ^_^
One thing’s for sure, this anime never fails to make me hungry. I’m seriously going to have to get some gyoza sometime in the future.
In the end, Sweetness and Lightning 06 is another lovely episode into wholesome goodness. I really am enjoying this series so far.
